As you read in the last post we are getting more and more into the running scene.  We have been lucky enough to get involved in some really cool events lately and one of those we the Glory Days Road Mile in Charlottesville, Virginia.

This year’s one mile road race was held on July 10th on the University of Virginia grounds.  There were about 80 runners and spectators who made the early trek.  There were a number of professional, semi-professional and former college runners in attendance.

We sponsored the race along with Ragged Mountain Running Shop (one of the most recent running stores to pick up the thriv line!) and the winner got a thriv Carrollton Performance Crew shirt.  This year’s winner was former UVA standout and USA Outdoor Track and Field Championships qualifier, Alex Tatu.  Tatu cruised to an easy win in 4:37.  Kevin McHale (last year’s champion) came in 2nd in 4:41 and Will Christian, a coach at the Naval Academy, placed 3rd in 4:45.  The female winner was Ann Mazur in 5:39.

It was a great event and we are excited to be a part of it for years to come.  Check out the pictures below and race results can be found here.

Here at thriv we are huge fans of trail races.  What could be better then running through nature, up and down hills, and through the mud trying to make sure you don’t break an ankle?

The Forge Trail series is a cool racing series put on by the guys over at Forge Racing.  It includes four races throughout the year, one each season.  If you think a 4 mile trail race is brutal imagine doing one in the middle of a Baton Rouge Summer.

As soon as we heard about these races we knew we needed to be a part of them so we signed on as a sponsor and we make the trek up to Baton Rouge once every three months to watch these maniacs race.  If you happen to be in the area you should really check it out its a great experience and a great event and we are excited to be involved.
